At about 04.30 hours on 3.1.40 I left Shaukiwan

Harbour on board the above junk to go fisning in Chinese Waters together with 9 of a crew.

At about 05.00 hours on 9.1.40 my junk was at anchor a

about 5 miles off the shore at KIT SHEK in HÓI FUNG District

together with 5 other junks when I saw the crew of a Japane se

님 光 motor boat which had just set fire to NG TOI KONG's junk leave his junk and come alongside my junk. 4 Japanese sailors dressed in khaki uniform boarded my junk and ordered me and my crew into our dinghy and told us to row ashore. We had been rowing for about 20 minutes when I saw the Japanese pour kerosine oil over my junk and set fire to it. They then boarded their motor boat and went alongside one of the other junks. My junk and fishing gear which became a total loss is valued at $3,000.00 H.K. currency.

At 12.00 hours on 10.1.40 I and my crew boarded fishing junk No.1172 H.A. and set sail for Hong Kong arriving at 08.00 hours on 12.1.40.
